Winter sessions at Stones River Battlefield never disappoint, and the Whitwam family is a perfect example of why this location holds such a special place in my heart.

Even in the colder months, the tall grass catches the light beautifully, creating a soft glow that feels warm and timeless. The road and winding pathways offer space to move naturally, making it an ideal setting for relaxed, connection-filled family photos. Stones River Battlefield is one of my favorite locations for family photos in the Murfreesboro area, especially during the winter months.

Just a few weeks after their Christmas session, the Whitwams decided to book a full family shoot so everyone could be included — a simple way to slow down and document this season of life.

The family shared that it had been years since they’d had photos taken together, and for some, it was hard to remember the last time they’d had professional portraits done at all. That alone made this time together especially meaningful.
