Dreaming of Highland Cows: Capturing Sweet Moments

If you’ve followed me for a while, you probably know this already: photographing baby Highland cows has been on my dream list. There’s just something about their shaggy hair and gentle eyes that makes you want to squeeze them (in the sweetest way, of course). So when I finally had the chance to photograph two of the fluffiest calves—Chocolate Chip and Pancake—they did not disappoint!

It was a blazing hot day (like, let's-wrap-this-up-quick kind of hot), but that didn’t stop the magic. We kept the session short and sweet, and these fluffy babies made every second count.

These two baby Highland cows were total naturals once they settled in. Pancake especially loves to nuzzle, and those soft moments are just the best to capture.

Just when I thought the cuteness had peaked, one of the chickens decided to join the party. She snuck into a few shots like she knew exactly what she was doing—adding her own charm to the session. Watching the little one light up while petting the cows and chickens reminded me why I do this. These aren’t just photos; they’re tiny time capsules of pure, unfiltered joy.

Did You Know…?

Here’s a fun fact I didn’t see coming: Pancake and Chocolate Chip are obsessed with marshmallows. Yep—apparently cows can be bribed, and fluffy sweet treats are their love language. It was as hilarious as it was adorable.

Highland Cow Minis Are Coming!

Highland Cow Minis are officially happening, and I can’t wait to share more details soon! If you love the idea of capturing these sweet, unique moments, stay tuned and be ready to book!
