Before the Next Chapter: An In-Home Session in Nashville
When Chrissy first reached out about an in-home session, she shared something that made my heart pause: “We’re moving to Japan soon—and this is our first home together.” Right then, I knew this wasn’t just about photos of a house—it was about capturing a season. A sweet, ordinary, deeply meaningful season of life before everything changes.
Chrissy and Lane have spent their early years of marriage building a life in this Nashville home—with their three sweet fur babies: Bird (the sassiest black cat), Marshall (the orange snuggler), and Mika, their sweet and loyal pup. These three aren’t just pets—they’re family. And they were fully included in the session, from lounging on the bed to sneaking into the corners of quiet moments.
We started the session outside, soaking in that golden Tennessee light. Then we moved indoors, where things slowed down into the real-life rhythm of their home—snuggles on the couch, playful twirls in the kitchen, and the kind of quiet moments that will mean even more a year from now than they do today.
Inside their cozy space, we made sure to capture the details that tell their story: the record player spinning something nostalgic in the background, Chrissy relaxing in her favorite hammock chair, and a stack of board games hinting at nights full of laughter (and maybe a little friendly competition). Here’s something I love about in-home photography: it’s not just about people, but also the everyday things that hold meaning. Those little details tell a story too—even when no one’s holding them.
And then there’s Chrissy and Lane themselves. Chrissy is bubbly and bright, the kind of person who makes you feel welcome instantly. Lane is calm and steady, the perfect balance to her energy. Together, they’re a team. And this home holds so many of the moments that built that foundation.
Before they pack their bags and step into a brand new chapter across the world, I hope these photos remind them of this truth: You built something beautiful here. And no matter where they go, that foundation—the love, the laughter, the memories—it goes with them.
In-home sessions like this one in Nashville are some of my favorites, because they capture more than faces—they capture the feeling of home. If you’re in Middle Tennessee and dreaming of photos that tell your story—pets, board games, kitchen twirls and all—I’d love to create something beautiful for you too.
